Governors Ball Sets Sights on September Return
Just this morning, Governors Ball has announced that it will be proceeding with planning its event in 2021. The event typically takes place in early June. Alternatively, the fest is set to take place in New York City for the weekend of September 24-26. In this case, it is likely organizers are hoping that by pushing the event a few months, the pandemic will be at a better place to host a large scale event. “New Year, New Dates,” the post reads, addressing that a lineup will be “coming soon.”
“Given that vaccines are rolling out and many experts predict a return to live music events in the Fall, we are hopeful. We’re booking an amazing lineup and making sure all suggested safety protocols are followed. Rest assured that safety is our first priority and we are working closely with all city and state authorities on everything” reads a statement from organizers.
In the past, the festival has booked big name acts such as The Strokes, Jack White, Eminem, Kanye West, and Outkast. 2020 booking included Missy Elliot, Stevie Nicks, Tame Impala, Flume and more. Subsequently, the event was cancelled due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
