What the World Needs Now is “Self Care,” New Single By Tank & The Bangas: Listen
Just when we need it most, Tank and The Bangas are out with “Self Care” the lead single from their upcoming EP Friend Goals set for release on November 20. With so many of us spending more time alone during the COVID-19 pandemic, “Self Care” declares it’s just damn fine to spend time in your own company.
“‘Self Care’ is THE quarantine song to get you moving,” Tarriona “Tank” Ball (front woman and lead vocalist) said in a statement. “It shows that some of the best things can come out from solitude, especially when the beat hits this hard.”
Based in New Orleans, Tank and The Bangas enlists the vocal talents of Jamie Woods, Orleans Big and Anjelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph on the tune. “Self Care” is one of six tracks on Friend Goals recorded in friends’ home studios in Chicago and New Orleans as well as band member Albert Allenback’s (alto sax & flute) home. Bandmates Joshua Johnson (drums) and Norman Spence (keys) were also instrumental to the making of the EP, most of which was created during quarantine using Zoom while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
To be released via Verve Forecast, Friend Goals follows Green Balloon, the band’s critically acclaimed debut released in 2019 – a year that saw them nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist. Friends Goals also includes contributions from musicians and New Orleans creatives the band has befriended over the years, including PJ Morton, CHIKA, Duckwrth, and more.
