New Freekbass Single “Gettin’ On” Packed with Positivity
Freekbass and The Bump Assembly have been bumpin’ for real all along, especially when they joined forces with Eddie Roberts’ Color Red Studios. Last month, we highlighted the new single “Runaway” featuring longtime Freekbass collaborator Sammi Garett of Turkuaz. Now this foursome have another great song out: “Gettin’ On.” The deep funk-infused track shimmers with the superb Sky White on keyboards and Rico Lewis drums. Garett is marvelous, of course, and there is a world of bass-thumping from Freekbass.
Their press release offered this:
The track is the first collaboration between Freekbass and songwriter Joe Jordan. Freekbass played the instrumental track for Jordan, and the two discussed a message of positivity and moving forward — a message that is timely, given everything going on in the world. Jordan was able to infuse some strong lyrical concepts, and the foundation was laid. Producer Eddie Roberts helped to mold the tune and get it to the finish line, then passed the track to Lee Popa, the track to mix at the Color Red Tokyo studio. Final mastering was done at Doug Krebs Mastering.
