Eliot Goldstein’s Interview with Keyboard Wizard Don Preston
Dreamer, Romantic, Daredevil and Different Drummer. That would describe Eliot Goldstein, the man of a thousand interviews. Well, perhaps not a thousand, but a lot of really good ones. His program is called NØT YOUR MOTHER’S RADIO. There are musicians of all shapes and sizes, but many of the interviews Goldstein has done are with Mothers, which in this case would mean musicians who performed at some point with Frank Zappa: sometimes The Mothers of Invention, other times just The Mothers, and still others members of the band Frank Zappa was leading at the time.
He has consented to allowing MusicFestNews to post his interviews for your enjoyment, and for that we are grateful. Recently, we have shared Goldstein’s interviews with Ian Underwood, Scott Thunes (part 1, part 2), and Bunk Gardner.

Today, we are beyond thrilled to be premiering Goldstein’s interview with Don Preston, mad scientist and keyboard wizard. Preston worked with Frank Zappa from 1966 to 1974. He was also later a member of The Grandmothers. He has 14 solo albums to his credit plus dozens of appearances on other albums, and he has performed with some of the greatest musicians in jazz and rock.
