Urban Soil’s Sets from Virtual BIG What? Saturday

With The BIG What? on hold like almost every other festival, BIG Something created their own virtual BIG What?, with music from Ranford Almond Friday and then two sets of music from Urban Soil wrapped around the latest edition of BIG Something’s Escape from the Living Room. Urban Soil have been regular supporters and participants at The BIG What?, and their inclusion in the virtual event was ideal. Here is set 1:

Not to mention that this quintet is absolutely outstanding. Their claim to “genre-bending roots rock” and “weaving Americana, rock and soul” into their music barely scratches the surface of their range and inventiveness. Blessed with a powerful lead vocalist, two great guitars, a magical violin, and kickass rhythm section, Urban Soil have received well-deserved praise for their dedication to great music. Here is set 2; use this link to watch.

Urban Soil are: Sarah Reinke, guitar, vocals; Eric Chesson, guitar, vocals; Greg Meckley, violin, vocals, percussion; Leo Kishore, bass, vocals; and Jonathan Wilson, drums, vocals.

For good measure, here is one of their great livestreams, this one from June 20. Use this link to watch.

And watch this space for more Urban Soil music — their new album City Dirt.
