Suwannee Spring Reunion Schedule Is Out!

This year’s Suwannee Spring Reunion has a fantastic lineup, and the schedule is now out. As usual, the spring festival leans progressive. Headliners for Thursday night are Blueground Undergrass, the genre-bending bluegrass group, and The Grass is Dead, the Grateful Dead bluegrass tribute band. The Jon Stickley Trio will do a set between them on the Porch Stage.

Friday’s headliners are Greensky Bluegrass, the rock/bluegrass group whose sets are a visual and aural explosion. Throw in Peter Rowan’s Free Mexican Airforce, the Duhks, and regulars Donna the Buffalo, and Friday night will be a night to remember.

Saturday, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones headline, preceded by mandolin phenomenon Sierra Hull. Fireside Collective, the Asheville-based progressive folk string band, finished up the night on the Porch Stage.

Sunday is a traditional collaborative bash led by Donna the Buffalo, with lots of guests, and solo performances by Verlon Thompson, Sierra Hull, and Peter Rowan.

Some of the best parts of this festival are the collaborations: late-night jams and great singer/songwriter combos. I’m looking forward to several of those: the always hilarious grouping of Jim Lauderdale, Verlon Thompson, and Shawn Camp with the addition of Darrell Scott, and a special Songs of Guy Clark Tribute with Verlon and Shawn.

And there are lots of other great acts throughout the weekend: the Shawn Camp Band, Chatham County Line, Nikki Talley, Roy Bookbinder, master singer/songwriter Darrell Scott, Jeff Mosier, my friends Brett Bass and Melted Plectrum, and an act I have been lucky enough to see several times this year, the Songs of the Road Band.

This is going to be one of the great ones; get your tickets now below.
