Mike Zito & Friends: A Tribute To Chuck Berry and Rock ‘N’ Roll World Tour

Mike Zito has launched his Rock N’ Roll World Tour 2020 (it began January 30). The tour continues tonight (February 1) at The Shrine in Tulsa. February dates concentrate in the Midwest before Zito and crew jump on Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea IV.

Of special note will be the show February 8 at Delmar Hall in St. Louis billed as Mike Zito & Friends: A Tribute To Chuck Berry, featuring Walter Trout, Eric Gales, Robben Ford, Joanna Connor, and Charles Berry III, all who performed on Zito’s Chuck Berry tribute album.

That album was released in November and topped the Billboard Blues Chart. The album boasts a stunning array of talent in honor of rock ’n’ roller Berry: Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Eric Gales, Robben Ford, Richard Fortus, Sonny Landreth, Luther Dickinson, Albert Castiglia, and Anders Osborne. Also performing on the album is Charles Berry III, Berry’s grandson. The album was produced by Zito and was recorded at his Marz Studios. Zito explained:

“This was a very special project for me. I lived in Chuck’s hometown of St. Louis for thirty-two years, and I worked at a small musical instrument store where his drummer also happened to be employed. Chuck’s son would drop by on occasion as well. He was an icon, and rightfully so. I’ve been playing his songs since I was a kid. Needless to say, he was a tremendous influence on my career, and, of course, on many other musicians’ as well.”

Zito then takes the tour across the Atlantic for a month’s worth of European dates before returning for more U.S. dates as the summer heats up.
