Great Music and Loads of Fun at the 2020 South Florida Fair
This coming January will mark the 108th edition of the South Florida Fair that runs January 17- February 2 at the fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, bringing with it all the classic fair favorites including fair foods, interactive games and rides, and the highly popular Coca-Cola Concert Series concert schedule.
This year fair organizers curated a multi-genre lineup that includes everything from country to Christian and a little of everything in between. Headliners scheduled to appear include classic rock giants Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, ’60s iconic favorites The Lettermen, up-and-coming Nashville-based country recording artist Russell Dickerson, and Christian singer/songwriter Cory Asbury. The Coca-Cola Stage will also feature last year’s battle of the bands winners Unchained Melody, the ultimate Van Halen tribute band who will headline one of two bike nights set to take place this year.
Beyond the headline acts scheduled to appear, those attending the fair will have a chance to see many local bands perform on the Community Stage. Local favorites Spred The Dub, Manipulate the Machine Band, Solstice Reign, Casey Raines Band, The Cravens Band and The Crush Band are all scheduled to take the stage. In addition to that, nearly every high school in Palm Beach County will have their bands playing on scheduled days. While some come for the music, and there is plenty of it, many come for the food, rides and attractions. There is nothing like fair food, if your stomach can tolerate it. In fact, one of the unofficial fair rules is that calories don’t count while attending the South Florida Fair. For fair foodies, it’s a chance to indulge in the traditional fair favorites, including the traditional corn dog, chicken on a stick, buckets of fries, steak tips and mashed potatoes, fried Oreos, and the ever-popular donut cheeseburger. If you’re watching your waistline, put on a comfortable pair of shoes, as the fair offers a ton of exhibits, ride and attractions, enough to fill an entire day. This year’s theme is Play Ball, Play Fair! that highlights the most popular sports in the community with an emphasis on sports competition, fair play, and the zeal to win. To celebrate 20 years of “The Starz of the Future,” the largest talent show competition in South Florida, the fair will host a Starz MVP (Most Valuable Performers) fundraising concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 23. Starz of the Future has hosted thousands of aspiring artists during its 20 years at the fair.
