He’s Everywhere! He’s Everywhere! Mike Dillon, Vibraphone Destroyer, On the Loose
It’s damn near impossible keeping up with Mike Dillon and his 101 different bands, gigs, and events. So we’ll let him explain it —
We will be hitting the road again soon. We have some shows booked Thanksgiving weekend with Brooks Hubbert III, James Singleton, Big Bass Nate Lambertson and Chris Tuna in Mobile and Ocean Springs. James and I will be getting freaky in NOLA that week as well. Then I will head to Mexico City and play some music with Todd Clouser.
After that, I am going to do a Christmas show in KC at The Ship with Go Go Ray on December 21. On December 26, the tour buggy heads out east to meet up with The Nth Power. I can’t wait for that tour! I will have Brady Blade on drums, Brad Houser from Critters Buggin on bass, and Brooks Hubbert on guitar. Upon completion of the New Years Eve Blow-Out, we work our way back to Texas.
I will bounce and do the Jam Cruise with the Bastards and whoever else the lord of the Jam dictates. When the Jam Cruise docks, I will resume the winter tour with the one and only Norwood Fisher on bass and John Speice IV on the drums for the Texas dates.
Norwood, Brooks Hubbert III and I will roll up to the mountains and meet up with Captain Hempthong aka Brian Haas in Santa Fe. Somewhere along the way, Brendan Bull will join us, and that tour will migrate out to Cali. We Have confirmed shows that I will be posting soon. We will make it out to NYC in February and then back to the Northwest for the end of February to visit my friends out yonder.
All right y’all!!!!! A little posting of plans from Amsterdam. Time to play some tabla and then fly to Helsinki. I am enjoying being a percussionist for Rickie Lee Jones. I get to color her amazing songs and not be in control of the ship. Of course, not being in control is good because control is an illusion. That being said, I am grateful Rickie Lee usually has the band open the show with one of my instrumentals. It has been great giving the Europeans a taste of my music! Nonetheless, taking a break from MDB tour gives me fresh legs when I go back to it.
BTW, just finished mixing another percussion record called Rosewood with Chad Meise. Earl Harvin played on about half of the tracks. It will be released on Royal Potato Family by Kevin Calabro in 2020 around Jazzfest.
Got all that? Well, there’s more to come!
