Exit 111 Top 5 Can’t-Miss Artists

MANCHESTER, TN: OCTOBER 11-13th

This weekend marks the beginning of a new chapter for our beloved Great Stage Park, home to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The park, lovingly referred to as “The Farm” will play host to a new festival on its hallowed grounds, known as Exit 111. The rock festival has swung hard with a huge first-year lineup, and you can bet we will be there to tell you if the festival lives up to The Farm’s reputation. Check below for our top 5 can’t-miss artists for the weekend!

5: Bishop Gunn

Bishop Gunn is a young Southern rock band that gives off an air similar to that of Ozzy and Led Zeppelin. If you are  looking for a band that has potential to be a household name in 3-4 years, this is it!

4: Anthrax

I’ll be honest, I’ve wanted to see these guys since the first time I saw Scott Ian and his raccoon tail of a beard as a 13-year-old just discovering metal. This is a purely scratching a 15-year itch for me. That being said, that statement alone should be reason to see these guys; they have been doing this for years and are still touring and billing highly at festivals.

3: Black Label Society

It would be enough to just make sure you know that BLS front man Zakk Wylde was one of the original touring guitarists for Ozzy Osbourne. It would also be enough to mention that he was close friends with metal legend Dimebag Daryl. Black Label Society has carved out its own niche, though, has a masterful following, and brings heavy metal back to its roots.

2: Coheed and Cambria

For those looking for something a little more modern at the festival, Coheed and Cambria definitely fit the bill. Singer Claudio Sanchez brings to much heart to the stage with each performance that it would be a crime to miss this show.

1: Lynyrd Skynyrd

With the recent passing of original member Larry Junstrom, this show is sure to be a tearjerker as well as an amazing opportunity for fans to sing along and pay final homage to the “big man with the big bass.” We’re not crying, you are.

Honorable Mention: Seether

Seether front man Shaun Morgan is the creator of the Rise Above Movement, a suicide prevention and mental health advocacy program that shares the same name with the Exit 111 stage. Shaun’s brother was a victim of suicide, and he is dedicated to working with others to raise awareness in the musical space, especially through partnership with organizations like SAVEWe love seeing artists make positive moves to bring awareness to a cause that has taken far too many amazing artists from us too soon. We’ll be there to support Seether and Shaun in this push and hope you do as well.
