Billy Strings Releases Out-of-This-World Sophomore Album – ‘HOME’
The wait is finally over for one of the most anticipated bluegrass albums of the year. Today marks the release of HOME, the sophomore album by young flat-picking sorcerer Billy Strings. Released via Rounder Records, the complete work comes on the heels of three tracks teased out over the summer – “Taking Water,” exclusively premiered by Rolling Stone Country; “Away From the Mire,” which was debuted by The Boot; and “Everything’s the Same,” previewed by Billboard. HOME is String’s follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Turmoil & Tinfoil.
String’s no-holds-barred style of flat-picking and brutally honest songwriting have been flooring critics and fans alike since he first hit the scene in 2013. Not yet out of his 20s, the Michigan-born, Nashville-based artist has shared the stage with some of the biggest names on the bluegrass and festival scene today including: Dierks Bentley, Del McCoury, David Grisman, Larry Keel, Sam Bush, The Marcus King Band, Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, The String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, and Widespread Panic.
A fan of metal and rock, Strings crushes music’s boundaries, venturing into unchartered territories that blend elements of punk, country, folk, rock, and psychedelia to create a sound uniquely his own while remaining firmly rooted in bluegrass tradition. His jaw-dropping performances and relentless work ethic have paid off with a nearly sold-out fall tour that stretches across the country.
HOME lays bare the deepest recesses of a young artist’s soul and fearlessly pushes into mind-bending sonic territories. With this album, Strings continues his journey into places yet to be explored where listeners are invited to come along. HOME is out now and can be streamed or purchased by clicking here.
