Billy Cobham’s Crosswinds Project with Randy Brecker & Fareed Haque
It’s NOT Billy Cobham’s birthday today (September 15), but it IS his birthday year, and he will celebrate 75 years on the planet tonight at Blue Note with two shows. Then he takes his Crosswinds Project with special guests Randy Brecker (trumpet) and Fareed Haque (guitar) on the road for a series of fusion shows designed to blow your mind.
Cobham has appeared on hundreds of recordings, including three dozen albums of his own, starting with the one-two punch of Spectrum and Crosswinds. He played with Horace Silver; recorded with Miles Davis, including Bitches Brew and A Tribute to Jack Johnson; played on a host of CTI and Kudu albums; formed Dreams with John Abercrombie and Michael and Randy Brecker; formed Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin; formed the Cobham-Duke Band with keyboard master George Duke; and has more than 125 album credits to his name.
