Take a ‘Solo Ride’ with Bruce Katz

Keyboard wizard Bruce Katz, who encouraged all of us to Get Your Groove with his 2018 album, has a brand new release Friday, August 16, properly titled Solo Ride, and it’s exactly that. We are accustomed to hearing him on Hammond B3 organ and electric piano in concert. For this one, Katz sat down solo at the grand piano to record twelve songs (all but one originals). Katz remarked that this opportunity:
“allows me to express myself purely and directly – sitting at the piano with nothing else in the way. I love a whole range of American Roots music, and for this CD I wrote tunes that are based in Blues, New Orleans R&B, early Jazz, Gospel and Rock styles. It’s a full program of who I am musically.”
Katz has been on the scene forever (and thank heavens for that). Katz spent time with Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters, Delbert McClinton, Duke Robillard, and David ‘Fathead’ Newman, among others. He also formed his own band, still playing (with personnel changes). He has also performed with The Greg Allman Band, Les Brers, Butch Trucks and The Freight Train Band, and Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, and he is a member of Dreams, a superb collective honoring the work of The Allman Brothers Band, and also Paper Sun, performing the music of Traffic.
Katz won a Blues Music Award for Best Acoustic Album earlier this year for Journeys to the Heart of the Blues, an excellent collaboration with Joe Louis Walker and Giles Robson.
Here’s your opportunity to “get your groove” with Katz solo on grand piano. The album will be released tomorrow! We will add the link as soon as it’s available.
