One Last Chance to Make That Mothership Connection
Thirty shows down, 16 to go. That’s the count for the final tour for George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic and a ton of guests. The One Nation Under a Groove tour is currently on the West Coast and will play Showbox SoDo in Seattle tonight (August 8). The tour continues through Oregon, Colorado, and the Southwest before four dates in Texas, three in Florida, and the grand finale at The Fillmore New Orleans September 1.
The 78-year-old Clinton has been making music since the ’50s, writing for Motown in the ’60s and achieving some success with The Parliaments’ hit record “(I Wanna) Testify.” It was in the ’70s that his twin funk mobs, Parliament and Funkadelic, blasted into space on the mothership and took us with him. His funk empire spread far and wide.
And now Clinton is bringing the mothership in for one more landing. When the band is on, the Parliafunkadelicment Thang is truly remarkable. Find out for yourself before that final opportunity has come and gone.
One Nation Under a Groove also features Fishbone and Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf on all dates. Dumpstaphunk will be on all dates except the three Florida shows. Galactic will play August 24-25, and The Main Squeeze will play the Florida dates. Bass master George Porter, Jr., will also play on the NOLA finale.
