Nearly two years in the making, “Just Like You” was born on the road in 2017 while John McCarten (a.k.a. Manic Focus) was on tour. Inspired by his love of hip hop, McCarten crafts a wild progression of trap-style grooves that builds a house full of arpeggiated strings, ferocious synths and psychedelic vocals. Take a listen.

“Just Like You is a tune I’m very excited about. I’ve always been a fan of stringed instruments, and I wanted to capture an uptempo string rhythm with a synth,” McCarten said in a press release. “The result is a classical inspired hip-hop electronic beat that I love playing live.”

“Just Like You” comes on the heels of “Lyrebird,” released in July and one of four tracks dropped over the summer from Lost in a Digital World. “Lyrebird” features saxophonist Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic) and Borahm Lee (Break Science/Pretty Lights Music). The upcoming album will also feature contributions from an eclectic lineup of artists including Protohype, Russ Liquid and Psalm One.
