The Big Orange Music Festival Rocks Its 2019 Lineup
The Big Orange Music Festival has cooked up a 2019 lineup with a distinct Southern flavor. Incendiary alt-country, rockers Blackberry Smoke and Southern jam torchbearers The Allman Betts Band will be headlining the festival to be held October 26 in picturesque Laishley Park in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Made up of Charlie Starr (Vocals, Guitar), Richard Turner (Vocals, Bass), Brit Turner (Drums), Paul Jackson (Vocals, Guitar) and Brandon Still (Keyboards), Blackberry Smoke has been burning up stages for nearly 20 years. Formed in Atlanta in 2000, they’re impossible to pigeonhole and developed a singular sound that reaches deep into the recesses of hard-driving rock, Americana, folk and country.
Devon Allman and Duane Betts, the sons of Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts, joined forces not long ago to carry on their legendary fathers’ legacy and sound. And add in bassist Berry Oakley, Jr., son of the ABB bass player. They are forces to be reckoned with in their own right penning and playing original music as well as honoring their fathers with covers of classic Allman Brothers tunes.
They will be supported by a diverse cast including: British blues guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor; country rocker J Edwards, psychedelic soul and bluesman JD Simo, and local blues-rock prodigy Champ Jaxon.
Now in its fourth year, Big Orange Music Festival invites attendees to not only take in these stellar acts but also enjoy them in one of the prettiest settings in Southwest Florida. With the the Peace River as a backdrop, the festival will also have no shortage of local food and beverage vendors as well as area crafts for sale.
