TBT(uesday): Dixon’s Violin at Renaissance Festival!
Serendipity is when you’re strolling through the Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival (03.03.19) with your family when, all of a sudden, you spot Dixon’s Violin performing on a small stage toward the back of the venue. Luckily for us, he had just begun this half-hour performance, and somehow his normal costume was perfectly suited to the environment.
For that half-hour, I sat mesmerized (I think the family drifted away) as the air was filled with the other-worldly sounds of Dixon’s Violin. It seemed simultaneously real and surreal and magnificently gorgeous. After the performance, he took time to meet with everyone and gladly signed the albums we purchased (From the Forest, recorded at Electric Forest 2017, and Nonsense Night, recorded in Detroit in 2018).
And he poured himself into his show with as much enthusiasm as if he were performing at Suwannee Hulaween or Electric Forest or any of the other enormous events where he routinely plays for thousands of people.
Serendipity indeed!
