Spirit Of Woodstock Festival – Brooksville, Florida – August 16-18

Michael Lang and Greg Peck may still be refusing to give up on the idea of an official 50th anniversary Woodstock Music & Arts Festival, even though it seems essentially impossible to pull it off at this late date. However, a much more sure bet is locked in and ready to go in a beautiful campground setting just north of Tampa on that weekend of August 16-18, 2019.

The event, called Spirit of Woodstock Lives On, is being held at the gorgeous Sertoma Youth Ranch in Brooksville. The heavily wooded and well-appointed campground is about 30 minutes north of Tampa.

The event features not only three days of music but also children’s activities, campsite contests, pet parades, and more. This is a family-friendly festival on one of the best festival sites in all of Florida. In fact, in the spirit of being family-friendly, children under 12 are free with a ticketed adult. Note you will need to contact the festival ahead of time to take advantage of this. Details are available on their Facebook page.

The original Woodstock festival drew an estimated crowd of over 400,000 people, thanks in large part to a diverse lineup of musicians and bands. The Spirit of Woodstock Lives On festival continues that tradition, pulling in a range of acts from Americana, bluegrass, rock, jam, fusion, and more.

Doing a festival in Florida in August is much more enjoyable with an RV of some kind. Fortunately, there are still water/electric sites available for Spirit of Woodstock. The festival has partnered with Giant Recreation World to provide rental units for those attending who do not have their own RV. If they do not have what you need, there are also plenty of other sites such as rvshare.com, outdoorsy.com, Cruise America, and others. Pro Tip: For sites like RV Share and Outdoorsy, enter the destination (in this case, Brooksville Fl), sort by distance, and start with the people closest to where you’re going. Delivery fees will be much less, and in some cases people who wouldn’t normally deliver just might do so.

The music lineup will be fantastic. Bands from all over the area will be playing a wide range of music. Grateful Dead fans will be pleased to see not only Russ Bowers Isn’t Dead Yet on the bill but also one of Florida’s most popular Dead tribute acts, Uncle John’s Band. There will be rock, blues, jams, and more. Something for everyone is sure to be found!

Music runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets are still available and are extremely reasonable, starting at $50 for a weekend pass.

You definitely do not want to miss this one.
