Farm Aid 2019 Brings a Star-Studded Lineup to “America’s Dairyland”
Mindful of Midwestern farmers hit hard this year’s by catastrophic flooding and other financial hardships, the 34th annual Farm Aid will be bringing its fundraiser to East Troy WI this fall with a lineup that includes founders and headliners Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp along with Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Bonnie Raitt and more.
To be held at the Alpine Valley Musical Theater on September 21, the one-day festival will also feature Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Jamey Johnson, Tanya Tucker, Brothers Osborne, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Yola and Particle Kid.
Founded in 1985 as a non-profit, Farm Aid is best known for its yearly philanthropic festival. But it works year-round to fulfill its mission of keeping family farmers on their land. It also focuses on building an agricultural system that values family farms, healthy food, soil, and strong communities and advocates for fair farm policies. To date, it has raised $57 million toward those goals.
This is the second time Wisconsin, which bills itself as “America’s Dairyland,” will host Farm Aid. Organizers purposefully chose the state, which has led the country in farm bankruptcies for three straight years, in part to highlight the dairy crisis there.

“With devastating weather, low prices and harmful farm and trade policies, America’s family farmers are facing immense challenges to hold onto their farms,” said Willie Nelson in a statement. “It’s not right… family farmers are essential for all of us…. At Farm Aid 2019, we’ll highlight solutions and show our support for family farmers’ contributions to our health, economy and environment.”
