VI Jam Fest — Virgin Islands, That Is!
We’re just three weeks away from the inaugural VI Jam Fest. What is VI Jam Fest, you ask? This is the Virgin Islands Jam Fest on the island of St. John, where for three days (Thursday, March 7th, through Saturday, March 9th) 17 bands and artists will perform for you in an idyllic setting on a magnificent island in the Caribbean.
Presented by Cruz Bay Music and Because of the Lotus with support from Tito’s, Jameson, Sirenusa, and Vacation VI, VI Jam Fest will be held at the historic Estate Susannaberg, “one of St. John’s privately owned historic treasures.” There will be two stages: the Tito’s/Jameson Stage and the Vacation VI Stage.
There is an option for camping at the venue with a tent and two sleeping pads provided, and there are local hotels, resorts, condos, and private villas also available.
With 17 artists and bands performing over the three days, there will plenty of music from 2 PM to midnight each day, and there are no overlapping sets, so you can catch each and every note at VI Jam Fest. Several festival mainstays headline, including the Ryan Montbleau Band and Zach Deputy. Montbleau brings his amalgam of folk rock, Americana, soul and R&B from chilly Burlington to the warm St. John climes. And Zach Deputy, who is usually importing the island vibes to the states, instead will be delivering those groovalicious vibes on their home turf. Montbleau plays all three days, Deputy two.
Treehouse! will bring their psychedelic reggae jams from South Carolina, and KBong has an early set Thursday and the closing set Sunday with his Honolulu brand of reggae, hip hop, and acoustic rock. Florida is proud to represent with blues slinger Beartoe.
Much of the music is homegrown, such as St. Groovus from St. Thomas melding island pop with dancy grooves, Addis Revolution from St. John playing pop, reggae, and fusion, and Brother Nature.
John Welton & the Awakening will be there to administer “universal musical medicine,” while Vana Liya from New York is a reggae artist. Add to those Bubba Love, Hatch, Jake Bradley Band, Patsy + Kenny M., and Erin Hart. Bama Boys Band will be on hand — Mel K, Chris N, Jonathan A, and Ryan B — and so will Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos!
Because of the Lotus will be on hand to blow your minds with their astonishing presentation. “Because of the Lotus is a ground-breaking art installation that symbiotically fuses fine art with digital art and biofeedback to bring paintings to life.”
