Bruce Katz Band Again Encouraging You to ‘Get Your Groove!’
Bruce Katz and band may call Woodstock, New York, home, but they know darn well now is not the time to be there. They hit the road again, playing Greenville SC March 2nd and Montgomery March 3rd before retreating to the Sunshine State for five dates all across the state, with the Sweetlife Festival in Jacksonville Beach among those.
Katz offered this about a personnel change in the band:
The Bruce Katz Band has a new guitarist. After 13 years, countless tours and five albums, Chris Vitarello, my longtime guitarist, friend, and fellow road-dog has left the band to pursue personal interests and other opportunities. But I’m happy to announce that guitarist/singer Aaron Lieberman, known for being one of the founders of the pioneering band God Street Wine and other musical ventures in blues, jazz, and rock, is joining my band. I’m excited about where the band will go and how it will evolve with this new, creative energy. Welcome, Aaron! Ray Hangen is still holding down the drums. I’m on Piano and Organ (and bass), and we are all looking forward to the new Bruce Katz Band! We head south on our first tour March 1st.
The blues keyboard master will head back north for shows all over the East Coast, including the Berks Jazz Fest in Reading PA. Many more dates will be scheduled, but Katz has confirmed shows up through October.
Bruce Katz has been nominated in three categories for the 40th Blues Music Awards presented by The Blues Foundation, including Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year and Acoustic Album of the Year for Journeys to the Center of the Blues with Joe Louis Walker and Giles Robson. Those awards will be announced May 9th in Memphis.
