Reggae Originators Toots And The Maytals This Weekend in Jupiter, Florida

Legendary originators of reggae music Toots and the Maytals will be making a stop in South Florida for a Sunday afternoon concert that brings the very best sounds of Jamaica to Jupiter. Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, the leader and lead vocalist of this legendary group, has long been recognized for popularizing reggae music. The deep soulful voice of Hibbert has been recognized around the globe for his immense vocal talent and has been named one of the 100 greatest singers by Rolling Stone.

Toots and the Maytals hold the distinct record in Jamaican music with 31 number-one songs. The five-time Grammy-nominated band most recently won their first Grammy award in 2005 for best reggae album True Love, an album of their classic hits that contains re-recorded versions of their originals.

Also scheduled to perform on Sunday evening is Jo Mersa Marley, the eldest son of reggae legend Steven Marley, who is the son of famed reggae giant Bob Marley. His musical pedigree comes from the great careers of his grandfather and father.

Toots and the Maytals will be performing at Abacoa Amphitheater on Sunday, January 13th. Gates open at 5:00 PM. Tickets still available.
