NOLA Crawfish Festival Adds Spice to Its 2019 Lineup

The fourth annual NOLA Crawfish Festival rounds out its lineup for 2109 with more stellar homegrown talent that is just what the doctor ordered for music fans hungering for more local New Orleans flavor. Just added to the festival, which is set to take place April 29-May 1, are Soul Brass Band, The Mike Dillon Band, NCF Theory of Funk, and Papa Mali playing with Alvin “Youngblood” Hart.

They’ll be joining the initial lineup made up of Anders Osborne and Friends, Neville Jacobs (Ivan Neville, Tony Hall, Cris Jacobs and Brady Blade), NOLA Crawfish Fest All-Stars, (George Porter, Jr., Dave Malone, Billy Usso and Terrence Higgins), Samantha Fish and Jonathan “Boogie” Long, and Iceman Special. As if these names weren’t enough to whet your appetite, the additions promise more mind-blowing collaborations.

Vibraphone slayer Mike Dillon will be taking the place apart on April 30 with a band that will include composer and drummer Brady Blade, founder of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and pianist Brian Haas, founder of the indie pop band Givers and singer/songwriter Tiff Lamson, and upright jazz bassist Nathan Lambertson.

April 30 will also a feature monstrous jam with NCF Theory of Funk. Not sure how the stage will contain this super group made up of guitar phenom and Grammy nominee Ari Teitel, master of funk and drums Jermal Watson, leader of Big Sam’s Funky Nation and trombonist Big Sam Williams, The Motet’s keyboardist Joey Porter, bassist and producer Kevin Scott, The Nth Power’s guitarist and vocalist Nick Cassarino and Andrew Baham Quintet trumpeter and band leader Drew Baham.

Presented by The Nola Crawfish King the festival will once again be held at The Central City Barbecue in the heart of New Orleans and will, of course, be offering up heaps of steaming mudbugs. For anyone interested in testing their mettle against veteran chowhounds, there’s the 2nd annual NCF Crawfish Eating Championships on April 30. And on May 1, the fourth annual NCF Ultimate Crawfish Cook-Off, which will be judged by local luminaries, will stir things up.
