Melissa Manchester To Make 12-Stop South Florida Tour
Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester will be headlining a 12-stop South Florida Tour starting on February 1.
Manchester is a three-time Grammy nominated acclaimed singer who won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1982 with “You Should Hear How She Talks About You.” Her legendary and distinct vocals have been used in several motion pictures, some of which have led to film awards, including being the first singer ever to have two Academy Award-nominated songs in the same year (“Through The Eyes Of Love” from Ice Castles and “I’ll Never Say Goodbye” from The Promise).
Her career has included acting and writing for theater, film, and television. Manchester is an adjunct professor at the USC Thornton School of Music.
Manchester’s hit songs “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” “Midnight Blue,” “Through the Eyes of Love,” “Come In from the Rain,” and her Grammy Award-winning super hit “You Should Hear How She Talks About You” have established her as one of the most compelling singer/songwriters in contemporary music.
The versatile singer’s big break came in 1971 when she caught the eye of Barry Manilow while performing in the clubs of Greenwich Village. Manchester was hired to perform as a backup singer for Bette Midler. Her early success led to a recording contract and then to her big hit song “Midnight Blue.” She went on to establish her career performing as a solo headliner in a career that has lasted over four decades.
During her storied career, Manchester has been recognized not only for her music but also for her acting ability. She played Maddie in a supporting role in the television series Blossom. She also starred with Midler in the film For the Boys and wrote and starred in the musicals Hats and I Sent a Letter to My Love.
The remarkable singer has received the Governor’s Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for her contributions to the music and recording arts.
