Buku Music + Art: Embracing the Teen Angst This Year!
Buku Music and Art Project is set to be this year’s biggest kickoff to festival season, at least if you like EDM and a little rap/hip hop sprinkled in. Hosted on the banks of the Mississippi River Delta in New Orleans‘ famous French Quarter, this festival prides itself on mixing music, performance art, local artists, and vendors all into one incredible experience.
Buku Festival 2019
This year’s lineup boasts acts from artists such as Lana Del Rey, A$AP Rocky, GRiZ and Kevin Gates, just to name a few. One act, or set of acts, that should be on everyone’s radar is Dog Blood. This DJ mashup duo consists of Skrillex and Boys Noize. Billing themselves as electronic-core-rave-metal, the duo creates some nasty music that will keep you moving until the break of dawn. The real reason you should be paying attention to this billing, however, lies far further down on this music festival’s lineup.
For those that do not already know this, Skrillex, real name Sonny Moore, first came to the music industry as the lead singer of the metalcore band From First to Last (FFTL). FFTL is billed for a DJ set far lower on the bill than Moore’s Dog Blood project, but I believe it is completely reasonable to assume that he will show up at that set, if not to just provide vocals to the group’s 2018 single “Surrender,” to hopefully give my immortal teen angst heart some FFTL throwbacks.
