The Werks: Toy Drive, New Year’s Run, Sonder Tour & Werk Outs
Those Ohio boys The Werks are intent upon sharing with you their “Psychedelic Dance Jam Funk Rock.” Why would you resist that? The quartet host their toy drive Friday (December 21st) with the Werkers Union Holiday Party at Woodlands Tavern in their Columbus hometown (they claim Dayton, too) and Festivus in Troy on Saturday.
Their four-night New Year’s run finds them in Asbury Park, New York City and Washington DC before they drop the ball — and the jams — at House of Blues Boston. The Cutting Room show is a Phish after-party.
Their Sonder Tour opens January 17th at Cosmic Charlie’s in Lexington, winding west to Colorado, then working back for the Winter Werk Out Music and Arts Festival in Columbus. After a brief break, they head south, including Funk Fest in Punta Gorda, Florida, where they will “funk the Red Hot Chili Peppers,” and two nights at Aisle 5 in Atlanta.
Joining them at Winter Werk Out are Emancipator, EOTO, Zach Deputy, Tropidelic, Prontoh, Ghost Gardens, Mom & Dad (featuring members of DOPAPOD), and Shatter. Litz will play a Daft Punk tribute, Any Color a Pink Floyd set, and Bulls on Parade a Rage Against the Machine tribute. Consider the Source also play Winter Werk Out and will headline the pre-party January 31st (Brothers Drake Meadery) with a Radiohead set.
They are also scheduled for Mountain Music Festival at the end of May and will host the tenth annual Werk Out Music and Arts Festival August 1st and 2nd in Thornville, Ohio.
The Werks are: Rob Chafin, drums, vocals, samples; Jake Goldberg, bass, vocals; Chris Houser, guitar, vocals; and Dan Shaw, keyboards, vocals.
