Can Bonnaroo Give the People What They Want: Jam ‘Til the Sun Comes Up!
Everyones favorite side show is back at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. That’s right, Walter Productions’ Kalliope Soundstage is returning to ooh and awe us with its lasers, 45-foot fire plumes, and incredible sound system.
I believe it is fair to say that the majority of Bonnaroovians were overjoyed last year when Bonnaroo announced Kalliope’s return. It was sorely missed during the summer it took off from the festival in 2017, where it left a big hole in the late-night programing of the Tennessee festival.
One thing we were excited to announce in this interview from last year was the addition of live band production to the art stage that had historically played host to only DJs. With the other changes made thanks to the outcry of patrons, it was anticipated that maybe something a little more jam-based and, dare we say it, funky would take the helm, a la STS9 or Spafford.
Sadly, that is not what we got; instead we got another year of DJs like Space Jesus, Jason Huber of Cherub, SLANDER, and an unforgettable Kaskade sunrise set, with no jammy goodness in site. There is, however, a light at the end of the tunnel for those still holding hope for the return of jam-packed sunrise sets, and that hope lies with the rumored return of ‘Roos original booking agent. That is right, AC Entertainment’s own Mr. Ashley Capps is rumored to have regained the booking reins from LiveNation, who took over the festival in 2015, much to the chagrin of long-time attendees. With the return of the entertainment company that made Bonnaroo famous, many are hoping that this year’s lineup and programming schedule will be one for the record books. Presale ends on 12/31/18, so hurry up and snag your tickets while they are at their cheapest and find out what all the fuss is about on that little farm down in Manchester, Tennessee.
