Electro Psychedelic New Year’s at Corazón Performing Arts with Fareed Haque
We have no idea how you’ll choose to stay up that long, but for out-and-out trippy wonderfulness it’s practically impossible to beat Electro Psychedelic New Year’s with Fareed Haque at Corazón Performing Arts in Topanga Canyon, California.
Why? Because the Solo and Trance Hypothesis begins at 8 PM and finishes at dawn… maybe. Music from Haque, Pete Pidgeon, Arcoda, and Johnnie Gilmore, with art by Humberto Braga.
Here’s what they told us:
On NEW YEAR’S EVE, Monday, December 31st, Now Power Presents and Corazon Performing Arts at 125 South Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga, California 90290 will be throwing their biggest party to date, featuring guitar virtuoso and master musician Fareed Haque, internationally-touring singer-songwriter Pete Pidgeon, brilliant solo bassist Johnnie Gilmore, and the members of Progressive Americana band Arcoda. The TEN-HOUR EXTRAVAGANZA begins at 8pm with solo performances from each musician, followed by full-band sets from Pete’s and Fareed’s bands, and culminates with a set of all-night improvisation stretching all the way until the dawn of 2019 at 6:31am. Tickets are on sale now. Corazon’s quaint and comfortable setting, filled with couches and tapestries, is nestled deep in the Santa Monica Mountains, yet just 25 miles from Downtown L.A.
Haque is the brilliant guitarist whose range of styles cover classical, classical Indian, rock, jazz, fusion, jam, and… [you fill in the blank — he can do it]. He is highly regarded for his work with The Flat Earth Ensemble, The Fareed Haque Group, Math Games, and Garaj Mahal. Haque has performed with many, many great musicians, including Paquito D’Rivera, Howard Levy, Billy Hart, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Goran Ivanovic, Joe Zavinul, Joe Henderson, Herbie Mann, Roosevelt Collier, Kai Eckhardt, Tony Monaco, and Stanton Moore.
Get your mind and body ready. Don’t worry about your face. It’s gonna melt.
