Columbus Funk’N Beer Festival Brewery Highlights
The Funk’N Beer Festival in Columbus, Ohio, is right around the corner. Some amazing artists, including The Floozies, Big Gigantic, and Flamingosis, will play to an intimate crowd of just 1,200 people or so on November 9th and 10th. This funky event will be held at The Bluestone, a historic 150-year-old church that was converted into one of the coolest venues in Columbus. On top of all this goodness, there will be food trucks and some spectacular breweries serving up of the best beer and food that you can find in Ohio.
SweetWater Brewing Company
SweetWater was founded back in 1997 in Atlanta. It has become one of the most successful and beloved breweries in the country. While it is no longer a microbrewery, they are still producing some of the best beer out there. The company still holds strong to its roots and even sponsors a number of programs designed to give back to the community. They implement a variety of sustainability practices within its day-to-day operations and support a multitude of environmental causes.
Rhinegeist Brewery
Located in a 130-year-old building in Cincinnati, Rhinegeist is doing everything right when it comes to beer. With a variety of flavors and styles, everyone should be excited to try their stuff. The company opened up shop in 2013 and has been a staple to the area ever since. They do everything onsite, from brewing to bottling; they even serve delicious food there. The company is about more than beer, they are an active member in bettering their community and surrounding areas. “At Rhinegeist we are committed to serving and giving back to the community. Through volunteer work, donations, philanthropic initiatives, taproom fundraisers, and our weekly Charitable Suds program, we work hard to make a difference in Cincinnati and beyond.”
Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery
Jackie O’s Public House and Brewpub are coming to Funk’N Beer Fest from Athens, Ohio. Their production facility provides the Jackie O’s team with a ton of room and endless imagination to make some insanely special brews. From rum and bourbon to sherry and tequila barrels, they have been skillfully aging specialty beers since 2013. They do seasonal beers and have some great beer staples. I’m hoping they bring their core beers Chomolungma and their Mystic Mama IPA, some of the best I’ve ever had.
