Between the Dark and Light: The Grateful Dead Photography of Jay Blakesberg comes to Florida this week for three dates. This is a slideshow/storytelling presentation about Blakesberg’s 40-year journey photographing the Grateful Dead.
On Tuesday, November 27th, Between the Dark and Light will come to the Miami Beach JCC at 7:30. At the conclusion of the presentation, live music will be performed by Unlimited Devotion and Roosevelt Collier. Unlimited Devotion has developed a devoted fan following and a reputation as one of the America’s most popular Grateful Dead-inspired musical ensembles with a reputation for improvisation at its finest. they are in the midst of eight dates with Collier, one of the best pedal steel guitar players on the planet.
Wednesday, Blakesberg will be at the David Posnack JCC in Davie at 7:30. He will be joined in onstage conversation by Oteil Burbridge, bassist for Dead & Co. and the Allman Brothers Band.
Thursday, Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa will host the presentation. Uncle John’s Band, performing at Skipper’s for the 1026th time, will play from 8 to 9. Blakesberg’s presentation will then begin, followed by a second set from Uncle John’s Band. This is a free show.
