Funk’N Beer Fest Bring Big Gigantic & The Floozies To Columbus
If you have never had the pleasure of seeing Big Gigantic or The Floozies live, do yourself a favor and make your way to Funk’N Beer Fest on November 9th & 10th in Columbus, Ohio. I’ve seen Big Gigantic a handful of times and they never disappoint. Their 2018 show at Okeechobee Fest was one of the most energic and amazing sets I’ve seen in recent memory. It’s not easy to describe what type of music they make. It’s live instrumental jazz, funk and EDM with a splash of hip hop and a thick coating of love. Dominic Lalli makes a saxophone sing, and Jeremy Salken plays the shit out of the drums. Toss in some heavy beats, an awesome light show, and infinite energy, and you have a guaranteed good time.
I wandered over to a Floozies set a few years ago not knowing what to expect. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. These two brothers from Lawrence, Kansas, bring funk to a whole new level. Matt Hill and Mark Hill are a breath of fresh air to the electronic music scene. Their live show is an epic journey full of wild guitar solos, thunderous bass, and incendiary energy.
These two groups have enough headlining power to play and headline some of the largest music festivals in the country. The opportunity to see them in a more intimate setting is a rare occurrence, and Funk’N Beer Festis making that possible. There are another 10 acts performing along with The Floozies and Big Gigantic, including Turkuaz, Flamingosis, Manimal, SoDown, Ghost Gardens and more. It’s going to be a spectacular two days of music, oh, and there’s also a ton of craft beer to enjoy. Columbus has one of the best craft beer scenes in the country. Funk’N Beer Fest is bringing some of the most beloved breweries to the same spot. That spot is The Bluestone, an old church which has been converted into a spectacular live music venue.
Come hang out with your friends, or if they suck make some new ones at this two-day event celebrating a variety of funk music and craft beers: two nights filled with some of the best modern funk out there today for only $50. If you can’t make it both Friday and Saturday single, day-tickets are available for $25.
