Jon Ditty Celebrates his 30th AND His 31st Birthday — at the Same Time!
It took a year to get the chance to celebrate rapper Jon Ditty’s 30th birthday, and you can thank Hurricane Irma for that inconvenience. Ditty’s whose birthday is September 7th, combined his 30th and 31st parties into one super rap and hip hop affair at Dunedin Brewery on Thursday, September 6th. Ditty, who is also a brewery employee, invited prominent and up-and-coming rappers from the Tampa Bay area to help him celebrate.
Three of the evening’s participants were making their first appearances at DunBrew. First on stage was Young40, who got the night off in style.
Next to entertain was HeyeYella, who also really connected with the enthusiastic crowd.
Mike Mass got the place really amped up with a fine set. DJ Hurley manned turntables off and on throughout the evening.
Finally, it was time for the birthday boy (actually, there were two — more on that in a moment) to take the stage. For visual (and occasional vocal) effect, he was joined by Dirt Lips, resplendent in a white jump suit and gaudy bling (he looked remarkably like Tyler Toth!). DJ Hurley was on turntables for part of the set, Ditty also using his production as Dirt Lips danced up a storm. The kazoo break was awesome. Ditty’s rhymes and vocabulary are simply amazing!
The other birthday boy Foundation-FNDTN (September 8th) was up next with his constant partner Hurley for a superb set. Somewhere along the line, Ditty also rapped with them.
When it was over, the birthday boys did what all good birthday boys do — CAKE!
