“Last year’s improv jam was a blast. Let’s do it again!” – Michael Lyn Bryant
That’s what, Michael Lyn Bryant, VP/GM/Booking Agent of Dunedin Brewery, had to say in advance of Sunday night’s romp through improvisational music. The show at Dunedin Brewery (August 26th) will feature a veritable who’s who of Tampa Bay area musicians in varying combinations.
Two dozen performers representing two dozen different bands will take part in the aural orgy. Perhaps you’ve here Bryant play with the improv band Skallop, or Veird, or the tribute to Col. Bruce Hampton (Ret.). Maybe you’ve heard rumors about his new project Follow The Monarchs. You may have seen him give free rein to local rappers and hip hop artists. It’s possibly you saw him pair up with Steve Molitz and Particle.
Expect free-form music, from a rotating cast of unique musicians:
• Yral ‘datdudeondrums’ Morris – Drums (Come Back Alice / Joose)
• Taylor Gilchrist – Bass (Come Back Alice / Joose / Ajeva)
• Trevor McDannel – Bass (Future Vintage / Skallop)
• Alex Sears – Keys (S.P.O.R.E. / Follow The Monarchs)
• Joe King – Guitar (S.P.O.R.E. / Follow The Monarchs)
• Cabe Cristler – Bass (Follow The Monarchs)
• Brad Gilmore – Trumpet (Rise of Saturn / Crisis the Jazz Project)
• Christian Ryan – Sax / Woodwinds (Holey Miss Moley / Joose)
• Juanjamon – Sax / Keys (CopE / Juanjamon Band)
• Dave Gerulat – Percussion (CopE / Shoeless Soul)
• Jon Ditty – Raps (Yo! Jon Ditty Raps!)
• David Dre – Raps (Optimis7 The Prophet)
• Adam Deimling – Guitar / Synth (Meindlig / Slim Taper)
• Matt Weis – Guitar (Antelope)
• Brian Jones – Drums (The Reality)
• Dave Gerulat – Drums / Percussion (shoeless soul / CopE)
• Jeremy Aurswald – Raps (Foundation)
• Nook Nguyen – Raps (MC Nookis, Sonic Stew)
• Robert Fortini – Guitar
• Scott Minehart – Mouth Harp
The show will begin about 15 minutes or so before 8 PM with Bryant offering a Veird perspective before the real fun begins.
So you probably have a vague idea, at least, of what is possible. Honestly, though, you cannot really imagine the tsunami of sound about to possess you Sunday night.
Our advice? Let it happen. You’ll be glad you did.
They don’t call it VEIRD for nothing.
