David Shaw’s Big River Get Down Turns Hamilton, Ohio, Into Jam!lton for a Day
On Saturday, September 8, the city of Hamilton, Ohio, will morph into “Jam!lton” for David Shaw’s Big River Get Down, a one-day festival curated by Shaw, the charismatic lead singer of New Orleans’ breakout sensations The Revivalists, who also happen to be the headliners. Joining them will be fellow New Orleanians Naughty Professor, and Samantha Fish along with Andy Frasco And The U.N., Jennifer Hartswick, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and Doc Robinson.
The festivities will start on Friday night with a sold-out, solo, acoustic performance for VIPs by David Shaw and end during the wee hours of Sunday morning with a rollicking afterparty with Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and Andy Frasco And The U.N. that starts at midnight. Tickets are still available for the afterparty, and more information can be found here.
This is the fourth time since the festival’s inception in 2015 that Shaw and friends will rock his beloved hometown of Hamilton. To be held at The RiversEDGE Amphitheater at Marcum Park on the banks of the great Miami River, BRGD draws thousands of fans known as RevHeads who travel from all over the country to see The Revivalists and to celebrate music and the resurgence of this once-faded industrial Ohio city.

Shaw started BRGD as a way to raise the profile of Hamilton and give back to his birthplace, which now includes a thriving arts community. Last year, in recognition of the festival’s contributions to Hamilton, the city council declared that the town should be renamed Jam!lton for the day of the event. Shaw was also named honorary mayor for the day.
“As someone born and raised in Hamilton, the recent revitalization of the city has been awe-inspiring to witness,” wrote Shaw on the Big River Get Down website. “Getting the opportunity the last few summers to perform with my band The Revivalists at RiversEdge Amphitheater has always been a highlight of my year and a great opportunity to reconnect with family and old friends.”
