Here Come The Mummies Invade Florida

Here Come The Mummies are one of the baddest, wildest and tightly wound bands touring these days. To say their shows are unique would be an understatement. They have announced a run through Florida in September. If you have ever wanted to party with a mummy, this will finally be your chance.

Start with the band themselves – they are an eight-piece funk/rock band of 5000-year-old Egyptian mummies. Their history is shrouded in mystery and kept under wraps at all times. Talk to different people who have worked with them, and you’ll hear many different stories. Some say they were cursed after deflowering a Pharaoh’s daughter. Others will tell you they are Grammy-winning studio musicians who had to disguise their identities to avoid running afoul of contractual agreements.

Regardless of where they come from and how they were resurrected from beyond the grave, they are on a singular mission to bring some seriously heavy funk wherever they go. The band is lead by Mummy Cass on guitar and lead vocals, Eddie Mummy on drums, Spazzy Mummy on keys, KW Tut on bass, Mummy Rah, The Flu and Midnight Mummy all on sax and BB Queen on Trumpet.

Their shows are a party from start to finish. Imagine a live show that’s equal parts Parliament, Rick James, and Bootsy Collins all mixed with some Kool & The Gang and Sly & The Family Stone. There is the kind of funk that you can’t help but bounce and dance to, along with some theatrics that add to the party vibe. There is likely to be a keytar or two, a bass solo or five, and a sweaty good time. There will likely even be some mummy twerking at some point.

The bottom line is that while Here Come The Mummies may be 5,000 years old or more, they are absolutely on point. They will bring you one of the best shows you are likely to see, and you do not want to miss them when they come to town.
