Gen-X Tour Makes Its Only Florida Stop July 3
Generation X is known as being the generation of slackers, cynical and disaffected, but they’re also the MTV Generation, and they demand excellence in their music. As the traditional industry has deconstructed, fame increasingly narrowed to a small minority of bands, this generation of fans has continued to support and eagerly anticipate the raw, unfiltered experience of their rock gods. Now, as a new rock music culture emerges, one defined by fans and artists rather than labels and MTV, Gen-X Summer is set to remind us that rock never died.
The Gen-X Summer Tour rolls into Miramar on July 3rd and is the tour’s only Florida stop. Rockers Buckcherry headlines the show along with P.O.D., Lit and Alien Ant Farm all on the bill.
The bands on this tour all started in Southern California from the late ’80s to the mid ’90s. Each bring its own unique style and musical influences from rock to grunge and even rap; these were the bands that dominated the later years of MTV and have kept them relevant and touring today.
Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd says of the tour, “You’re gonna get your money’s worth on this one; the Gen X Summer tour is gonna be one to remember for sure. I love these bands. We all came out around the same time, exploding onto the scene with great summertime hits and an awesome live show… let’s get wild and loose!”
Buckcherry: The American rock band was initially formed in 1995 in Anaheim, California. The band had early success from its first two albums including its biggest hit “Crazy Bitch.” Other hits include “Sorry,” and “Lit Up.” The band took a hiatus from 2002-2005, coming back with a new lineup and new album in 2006. Founding member Josh Todd has continued to keep the band alive by adding new members throughout the band’s existence. Buckcherry has continued to tour for more than 20 years.
P.O.D. (Payable on Death): The band was formed in 1992 in San Diego, California. The three-time Grammy Award-nominated band reached the top of the charts with hits such as “Youth of the Nation,” “Alive” and “Boom.” The band has sold over 12 million records worldwide and has released nine studio albums. The band’s widely diverse musical style has evolved throughout its career, going from rap metal to nu metal, with some songs having a reggae style that appeals to a broad audience.
Lit: The Fullerton, California band was formed in 1988 by brothers Jay and Jeremy Popoff and Kevin Baldes. The band’s initial name was Razzle, then changed to Stain and finally to Lit in 1995 due to name conflicts with an existing band. Lit gained national attention in 1999 when “My Own Worst Enemy” reached #51 on the billboard Hot 100. Lit’s latest album titled These Are the Days was released on December 15th, 2017, and the band continues to deliver hardcore shows to audiences internationally.
Alien Ant Farm: The Riverside, California-founded band gained notoriety for their 2001 rock version of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” The band is known for its high-energy performances and received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Hard Rock Performance.’ With five albums and album sales of over five million units, this band continues to tour across the US, UK, Australia and Japan.
