Actually, the Wanee Music Festival schedule is here for your perusal. We knew there was one addition (Dumpstaphunk doing RHCP), and now we see one deletion: Les Bros. We’ll miss them for sure.
We already knew how Wanee Wednesday Happy Hour shaped up, with Roosevelt Collier’s Jimi Meets Funk show shutting it down after a great day of Florida music: Bonnie Blue, JUke, Ben Sparaco and the New Effect, and Crazy Fingers.
Dark Star Orchestra’s Peach Stage show is sandwiched between the Dumpstaphunk set and Pink Talking Fish Tied to the Whipping Post on the Mushroom Stage. Earlier, BIG Something, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, Berry Oakley’s Indigenous Suspects, and Crazy Fingers (redux) fill the day.
Both stages are in full play as usual Friday and Saturday. Widespread Panic and Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band headline both nights on the Peach Stage, and Bobby Lee Rodgers has his traditional opening set there both days. Also on the Peach Friday are St. Paul & the Broken Bones and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood.
The Mushroom Stage is bursting Friday, topped off by North Mississippi Allstars at midnight. Lots more from Main Squeeze, Walter Trout, The Marcus King Band, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and Midnight North.
Saturday on the big stage, the special As the Crow Flies set and Sonny Landreth are up. And the Mushroom Stage will keep Big Mike and crew hopping with an amazing day, starting off with another monster set from The Yeti Trio, courtesy of Vaylor Trucks. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will funk things up for certain, just like on Jam Cruise. There is a powerful New Orleans presence during the day, with New Orleans Suspects, George Porter, Jr., and the Runnin’ Pardners, and the Soul Rebels all in the house.
And leave it to Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe to shut Wanee down with their monster Eat a Bunch of Peaches set.
