How About ‘Springing the Blues’ This Weekend on Jacksonville Beach?

Three days. On the beach. 21 bands. FREE! Lots of food and beverage vendors and much more. On the beach! FREE!

So obviously we’re talking about Springing the Blues, the three-day blues celebration at the Seawalk Pavilion on Jacksonville Beach, which runs Friday, April 6th, through Sunday, April 8th. The lineup is slammed with great national, regional and local blues artists of every variety. There is music on two stages: the main stage and the Blues Lounge stage.

FRIDAY

Monster bluesman Eric Gales and his band headline the party Friday, along with Selwyn Birchwood, Marky Blue, the Parker Urban Trio, and Larkin Poe. Music starts at 5 and runs until 10 PM.

SATURDAY

This is a day crammed full of music, with the first notes at noon. Two of Florida’s own sit at the top of the schedule: the Heather Gillis Band and the Corbitt Brothers Band. Gillis is a flame-throwing guitarist and great vocalist, and Isaac Corbitt is the premier harp player in the country (you’ll see). Sugaray Rayford and Band of Friends are also headliners.

Also on the schedule: Kim Reteguiz and the Black Cat Bones, David Julia, JP Soars and the Red Hots, Smokestack, and Jacksonville’s own Cat McWilliams.

SUNDAY

Victor Wainwright and the Train and Prestage Brothers are featured Sunday, along with Marna Blue, John del Toro Richardson, Tommy Z Band, N.W. Izzard, and Shane Dwight.

Bring your family. Bring your friends (not the furry ones, though, please). Superb blues, magnificent setting, and all you have to do is show and and groove!
