Where Else Can You Get ‘Do You Even Dobro IPA’ except Charm City Bluegrass?
When it comes to music, more is always better, and that is exactly what Charm City Bluegrass is giving their faithful fans this year. Doubling down in what is now their 6th year, the festival is growing into a two-day event being held at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, Maryland, Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28th. With two days of live music, local craft beer from Union Craft Brewing, including the festival’s very own “Do You Even Dobro IPA,” an assortment of local food, as well as craft vendors and daily workshops including open jams where fans are encouraged to bring their instruments and join in, there is no shortage of fun to be had for all in attendance.
The festival kicks off Friday afternoon at 4 pm with the help of Colebrook Road and will finish up with the evenings headliner The Travelin’ McCourys. As if that weren’t enough, the festival has put together a treat for all in attendance Friday evening in the form of a special set right before The Travelin’ McCourys featuring brothers Ronnie and Rob McCoury, who will be joined by some very special musicians including Warren Blair and Russ Hooper and many more all who helped shape the area’s bluegrass roots early on, coming together for what should easily be one of the biggest treats of the weekend. For those looking to keep the music and the night going, The 8×10 will be hosting the evening’s after-party with local band Better Off Dead performing one acoustic and two electric sets.
The festival will resume Saturday morning at 10 am with the 19th Street Band and go strong throughout the day with 15 other acts playing on three stages, ranging from Trout Steak Revival and Mountain Ride to Billy Strings and Jeff Austin before Saturday’s headliner Devil Makes Three closes things out with an 8 pm set. If a full day of top-notch music isn’t enough for you, or you’re looking to continue dancing the night away, The 8×10 has you covered yet again with an after-show featuring the Jeff Austin Band with special guests Man About a Horse. This show will be a perfect way to round off what promises to be another magical Charm City Bluegrass.
It’s going to be a great two days of music, but if at any point it you need a break from it all or just want to mix things up, there will be plenty of workshops as well as yoga classes throughout both days and as always plenty of comfy spots in the shade of the park’s beautiful trees for those moments when you just want to sit back cool off and enjoy the festival’s wonderful atmosphere. Whether you are a seasoned vet or making your first-ever trip to Charm City Bluegrass, there is truly something for everyone offered up in a beautiful and family safe environment.
