The Countdown is On for Sweetwater 420 in Atlanta!
With a who’s who lineup of jam stars and more, the Sweetwater 420 Fest is back and bigger and better than ever. The three-day extravaganza at Atlanta’s Centennial Park begins, appropriately, on Friday, 4/20, and wraps up Sunday, the 22nd. With 44 great bands and one outstanding artist at large, this will be a great weekend. 420 is an urban festival — no camping downtown, so plan accordingly.
Not only do you get to hear String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, but you get to see each of them twice! Also at the top of everyone’s list: the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Add to those Sturgill Simpson, Vulfpeck, and Greensky Bluegrass, and you’ve got yourself one great time.
But there is so much more! The best in funk comes your way courtesy of The Motet, TAUK, The Fritz, Funk You, and Brandon “Taz” Niederauer. Taz is also artist at large for the festival! You’ve got SOJA, Ghostland Observatory, Cofresi, The Vegabonds, and The Mantras doing a Beastie Boys tribute set!
Jam out with Papadosio, The Record Company, Marco Benevento, Spafford, and Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds. There is great music with a Southern exposure from Anders Osborne, Southern Avenue, and The Orange Constant. Stick Figure, The Infamous Stringdusters, Durand Jones and the Indications, Los Colognes, and Walden are on the schedule as well.
More? Sure! Maddy O’Neal, The Trongone Band, Luthi, Emma’s Lounge, Quaildogs, Hedonistas, Migrant Worker, Derlee, Hourglass, Bird Dog Jubille, Universal Sigh, Dr. Strangelove, and Bennett Wales and the Relief round out the lineup.
And don’t get us started on the pre-party and all the after-parties. We’ll do that next post.
