Spring Has Sprung! The Beer is Here – at Dunedin Brewery Spring Beer Jam!
March is beer month in the Tampa Bay area, and there are many great events to celebrate that magnificent libation, but none is closer to the hearts of music lovers than the Dunedin Brewery Spring Beer Jam. Every year, Michael Lyn Bryant curates an outstanding four-day lineup of music to add to the great beer on tap plus wine and a great food menu.
THURSDAY
This year’s revelry starts this Thursday, March 22nd, through Sunday the 25th. And it starts with a bang, as Sunshine State heavy hitters The Heavy Pets bring their Strawberry Mansion album release run through Dunedin. This amazing South Florida quintet are regulars at DunBrew and always blow out amazing sets, and this new album is pure gold.
FRIDAY
The Friday program starts out the way Fridays always kick off at Dun Brew, with DJ 45Revolver, the hardest-working DJ you’ll ever see. That’s all he plays — old-school funky 45s from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
Next up, Row Jomah, the excellent Clearwater quintet, will present a tribute to Talking Heads. They sprinkle their setlist liberally with TH tunes on a regular basis, so this will be awesome seeing a complete set of music from the fountain of David Byrne and his compatriots.
The evening closes with Displace, funk jam on steroids. This Tampa quartet is off on a tour right now throughout the Southeast and will celebrate their return at the Beer Jam.
SATURDAY
Fusik brings their funk, soul and fusion from South Florida to keep everyone movin’ and groovin’ on a Saturday night, with Latin and psychedelic influences and more in the mix. They will close the evening.
At 9, there will be a very presentation of Time is Free: A Tribute to Col. Bruce Hampton (Ret.). The Col. was a frequent visitor to DunBrew, and this promises to be a special evening for everyone.
SUNDAY
Sunday will NOT be a day of rest! The party starts at 2 PM with a pig roast; music provided by SNX, a project by members of Fusik. Later, Skallop returns. Their debut performance in December was tremendous, with Bryant on both synths and guitars. They will be joined by the Dunedin Lyricist Society with resident bard Jon Ditty and crew.
To close out Spring Beer Jam, Ike Stubblefield returns for some real magic. Stubblefield is a titan on keyboards and was the headliner at the December show with Skallop. You can read about it here. He will be joined by Jordan Garno (Leisure Chief) and Dylan Chee-A-Tow (Row Jomah!).
Stubblefield and Joe Marcinek will be sitting in all weekend. Marcinek was just at DunBrew March 4th for another fabulous show with his rotating cast of A-listers.
Four glorious days. Beer. Music. More beer. More music. Great people. That’s the Dunedin Brewery Spring Beer Jam.
