Great South Bay Music Festival Returns to Long Island with a Stacked Lineup!
Great South Bay Music Festival returns once again to Shorefront Park on Long Island July 12-15. The festival’s home in Patchogue NY has become a hot spot on the south shore of Long Island. The beachy town that stretches along the bay is known for an energetic nightlife fueled by music, art, good food, and craft beer. The Great South Bay Music Festival embodies it all, and this year the event is taking it up a notch with a stacked and diverse lineup.
The initial roster proves this local festival that began 12 years ago has only continued to grow. In keeping with the tradition of the last few years, Thursday night at GSB Music Festival pays homage to the post-hardcore scene of the last decade. Envy on the Coast, The Front Bottoms, The Get Up Kids and Thrice will kick off the weekend on July 12.
After opening night, the vibes begin to mellow out with headliners including Less Than Jake, California reggae rockers Dirty Heads, and perhaps the most recognized name on the Friday night bill, Sublime with Rome. Long Island favorites Oogee Wawa and Samurai Pizza Cats are sure to please local music lovers earlier in the evening.
Saturday’s lineup knocks it out of Shorefront Park with acts ranging from nostalgic tribute bands to jam scene heroes. The Joni Project, Allmost Brothers, The Band Band and Reckoning will take us back a few decades, followed by a relentless list of headliners. Guitarist Andy Falco (The Infamous Stringdusters, The Falco Brothers) is set to bring his bluesy roots home to Long Island, and Melvin Seals and JGB will keep the memory of Jerry Garcia alive with their spirited performance. The crowd can happily take a trip from reality with jamsters Papadosio. Drifting from spacey and dreamy to dancey and energetic, their live show always manages to keep the audience turned on and tuned in. Baltimore natives Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are sure to bring their own brand of high energy and positive vibes to the party. Festivalgoers can expect an explosive end to day three as Umphrey’s McGee closes out Saturday night.
The final day of Great South Bay Music Festival hasn’t been fully revealed to us just yet. We do know that we have legendary acts such as Electric Hot Tuna and Little Feat to look forward to. Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman, will also be bringing his brand new original project to the park joined by very special guest Duane Betts. As of now, GSB Music Festival is keeping us in suspense as we await the announcement of a “very special headliner” that will likely be closing out the entire festival. That announcement is due on April 1, so stay tuned.
