The White Panda Take Over TLA During New Year’s Run

When it comes to mash-up DJs, electronic duo The White Panda certainly haven’t gone unnoticed. These two have managed to capture the ears of listeners everywhere with their “throwback meets modern” mixing style since forming in 2009, and judging by their high energy performance that was held at TLA (Theatre of Living Arts) on December 26th, they’re definitely here to stay.

The night kicked off on a rather soulful note, thanks to progressive St. Louis-based artist Brandyn Burnette. He, along with his lovely stage partner Molly Moore, wasted no time cutting through the chattering audience with their performance. Burnette, along with his glow-up shoes, worked his way through his songs with an unmatched kind of energy. He tore through his bold lyrics that touched on everything from following your passion to good-old-fashioned love, including a rather sweet duet with Moore.

Following Brandyn and Molly was 20-year-old producer CADE. This young artist hit the ground running when he took the stage. He stood tall, arms held high and voice booming over the microphone as he encouraged the crowd to do the same. CADE rocked both in and out of the DJ booth, showcasing his distinctive R&B- and electronic-infused set to the amped up crowd.

Energy levels hit an all-time high once The White Panda walked on stage. Dressed in their signature white outfits and colorful masks, the two dove right into their ear-grabbing, top 40-inspired remixes, supported by stunning neon crazy visuals. Included in the track list were throwbacks such as Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” and grunge classic such as “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

As the saying goes, there was something in there for everyone, and no matter what type of mix you wanted to hear, it was impossible not to dance along the whole time and get covered in confetti and glowsticks in the process. By the end of it all I barely had the energy to walk back to my car, but it was worth every second.
