Big Orange Music Festival Schedules Its Irma Make-up Date: November 18
After Hurricane Irma nearly took out Southwest Florida, along with The Big Orange Music Festival, the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 18 in Punta Gorda with new additions to the line up joining original headliner JJ Grey and Mofro and more to be announced. Southern contemporary blues artists North Mississippi Allstars and Florida bluesmen the Sean Chambers Band join Grey and the original lineup featuring Tinsley Ellis Blues Is Dead and Evan Taylor Jones at Laishley Park on the Peace River.
Promoters Nick and Matt Nemec worked themselves to the bone rescheduling the festival that was supposed to happen on September 8 and 9 – about the same time Hurricane Irma had a bulls-eye on Florida’s southwest coast. Finding replacements for big draws and internationally acclaimed acts Los Lobos and Eric Lindell, who were part of the original line up, was a challenge for a festival that is only coming into its second year. But with Grammy-nominated artists North Mississippi Allstars, who perform frequently with Grey, and Sean Chambers, who cut his teeth playing with blues legend Hubert Sumlin, tossed into the mix, the resulting blues/soul/rock/funk salad will be sure to please. The Nemecs promise one more big (as in BIG in-capital-letters) act to be announced soon.
All tickets purchased for the original festival dates will be honored for the November 18 show. All those holding tickets for reserved seating will have the same assigned seat. Check below for more information and to purchase tickets.
