III Points Releases 2017 Line-Up Featuring The XX, Nicolas Jaar, Kaytranda

Imagine in the days leading up to a festival, the hosting neighborhood becomes a host to the Zika virus. On top of that, imagine if a Hurricane becomes a threat to the three-day weekend just a day before the festival is set to begin. For III Points last year, these were the challenges faced to make the event come to life. Amidst schools and businesses closing due to the storm, a neighborhood losing business to a health scare, and losing it’s top headliner (LCD Soundsystem) due to the storm affecting their arrival, they managed to stand through it all.

Last year proved that no matter the challenges the festival faced, it had the community support and commitment to making sure it remains true to the goal it set out five years ago. As Miami’s hub for the underground music scene, it has been able to book acts that normally would’ve skipped out on making a stop in South Florida. Through the years, III Points has gained recognition nationally and abroad for artists and labels to be interested in joining this rapidly-growing festival.

The festival is part of a handful of festivals in Florida like Ultra, Sunfest, and Okeechobee Music Festival. With more and more festivals popping up by the day, festivals need to find new ways to attract people through their doors. For III Points, their ability to book acts that normally would never touch the region and curating it with Miami’s brightest, followed by art and technology installations around every corner makes it different from the rest and a festival Miami can be proud to call it’s own.

The previously released headliners Gorillaz and The XX are special acts for the festival to gain considering it will be the first time Gorillaz grace a Florida stage and the first time The XX perform in Miami since 2013. As for the other headlining acts, these are performers that Miami has been trying to get for a long time coming. For many of these acts to make their way to Miami can be difficult considering our geographic location but with David Sinopoli (III Points Founder and Bardot Music Director) building relationships with artists and tour managers through the years, the music industry is starting to reinvest it’s interest in South Florida.

The festival’s history of technology and art such as last year with it’s Mars 2030 VR and Sunset @ Noon installations, will be coming more to life with the audio installation of legendary composer Brian Eno’s “The Ship.” As acts like Gorillaz and Richie Hawtin as part of the line-up, we will begin to see music, art, and technology, all become one. We may even be lucky to see all the Gorillaz members grace the stage with Damon Albarn.

The rest of the line-up brings together acts that Miami would have never thought would happen if it weren’t for the help of III Points. This year will bring a unique collective of artists that span different genres of electronic, indie, hip-hop, and beyond. The line-up features top performers like Skepta, Nicolas Jaar, Rufus Du Sol, Danny Brown, Thundercat, and BadBadNotGood.

The festival will be gracing it’s home Mana Wynwood on October 13-15, 2017 for it’s fifth year anniversary. Tickets are on sale starting at $175 for GA or $295 for VIP (Foresight Pass.) For more on III Points, follow our ongoing coverage leading up to the festival in October.
