Suwannee Spring Reunion Just Announced Vassar Clements Sunday!
The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida has added another day of musical magic to the March 23-26, Suwannee Spring Reunion festival. The previously released schedule had the music running from Thursday to Saturday without any Sunday performances. So, if you were planning on leaving early on Sunday, you might want to go ahead and change your plans. You are not going to want to miss it!
For decades, legendary fiddler Vassar Clements graced the SOSMP stages each spring and fall for bluegrass and roots festivals. Over the years he became a fixture at the park’s annual festivals, where his extraordinary talent and down-home friendly personality earned him the love and admiration of thousands of music lovers. After his passing in 2005, the festival has dedicated each Sunday as Vassar Clements Day in remembrance of his life and the festival family members that are no longer with us.
Sunday will include music on the Porch Stage from 10-2 as well as scheduled jams around the campgrounds (Bill Monroe Shrine, Slopryland and more) throughout the afternoon and well into the evening. Tania & The Magic Moon Traveling Circus Kids will open the Porch Stage in the morning, followed by the insanely entertaining Rashadicus and Friends (Tornado Rider) and an all-star Gospel Jam hosted by “Rev” Jeff Mosier and the Spring Reunion Backsliders Porchestra. There are also workshops and activities for kids of all ages scheduled for Sunday.
There are plenty of places that claim to be magical (including that big one in Orlando) but I can assure you that none of them can compare to a festival at the SOSMP. With decades of experience of hosting events, the park and its promoters have mastered the art of the festival. The beauty of wild Florida, well-equipped campgrounds, and a dedicated band of festival-goers create an environment that nourishes the soul. When you combine those elements with a hand-picked lineup of premier roots music, you end up with a magical experience that will keep calling you to return year after year.
The lineup includes: Jerry Douglas presents Earls of Leicester, Sara Watkins, Hot Buttered Rum, Peter Rowan, Donna the Buffalo, Jim Lauderdale, Turtle Duhks, Joe Craven, Jeff Mosier and Pickled Holler, Tornado Rider, Roy Bookbinder, Ralph Roddenberry and the B Sides, Nikki Talley, Bobby Miller and the Virginia Daredevils, Grass is Dead, The Applebutter Express, Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, Josh Daniel and Mark Schimick Project, Lon and Lis Williamson, The Adventures of Annabelle Lyn, Whetherman, Flea Market Hustlers, Old Dawgs New Trixx, Sloppy Joe, Habanero Honeys, Tania and the Magic Traveling Circus, Suwannee Kids Music Camp and artist at large Mickey Abraham.
The March 23-26 inaugural Suwannee Spring Reunion festival is set to be one of those magical events that will recharge the soul, create new and lasting friendships, and deliver mind blowing music. Get your tickets and plan on your face hurting for at least a week from the permanent grin you will be wearing all weekend.
