For the Second Year in a Row, There Will Be No Gathering of the Vibes

Last year Gathering of the Vibes shared the sad news that they were taking a hiatus for the beloved festival; fans were of course disappointed but hopeful that they would be able to reunite with their #VibeTribe in 2017. Yesterday, festival organizer Ken Hays shared that, due to the ever-evolving and fiercely competitive festival landscape, GOTV would not be moving forward with this year’s installment, either. What began as a Grateful Dead memorial party on the SUNY Purchase campus in 1996 after Jerry Garcia’s passing grew to a four-day, 20,000-person event held at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT. The festival celebrated its 20th year in 2015. We sincerely hope to see Gathering of the Vibes back at some point in the future; in the meantime, the organizers will be partnering with like-minded festivals to set up #VibeTribe camping areas.
