Must-Do at ‘Roo!
Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will kick the summer off in just a few days celebrating its fifteenth year anniversary. The four-day camping festival will see performances by J. Cole, Ellie Goulding, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tame Impala with Pearl Jam, Dead & Co., & LCD Soundsystem headlining. With so many great musical acts, it’s easy to forget all of the great things that Bonnaroo has to offer for entertainment. We’ve compiled a list of things that we believe every Bonnaroovian should experience whether it’s your first or you’re a vet!
“Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride”
Round and round we go on the biggest attraction at Bonnaroo! The Ferris Wheel is not only a great landmark to meet up with your group of friends but also a the best way to fully experience the magnitude of the farm since 2002. Make sure to get your tickets early in the day so, when you actually want to ride the ferris wheel, you won’t have to wait in line. The ticket booth sometimes closes earlier than the ferris wheel does.
Get Wet At Splash-A-Roo
Things can get a little bit sweaty after walking around and dancing in the hot sun all day, like… REALLY SWEATY. Stay cool by taking a dive on one of the water slides. There is a 35-ft water slide and a 40-ft big ass water slide to choose from depending on how high you want to be. You can also get the weekend pass for $20 and slide as much as you want for the rest of the festival!
It’s All In Your Head At The Silent Disco
If you see a crowd of people dancing but there’s no music playing, then you’ve arrived at the Silent Disco. When you first walk up to this quiet party, you’ll be greeted with a clean pair of headphones to jam out with the rest of the crowd. The limited amount of headphones makes each Silent Disco performance an exclusive experience, because only those with headphones were a part of it. The weird part is taking them off after getting lost in the music and realizing that you’ve been dancing crazily in a relatively silent area. This year be sure to catch Quickie Mart, DJ Logic, DJ Prince Hakim, DJ Uncle Jesse, and many more.
Comedy Tent
There’s nothing better than sharing a laugh with your Bonnaroo family under a giant tent with A/C in the middle of a hot summer day. The Comedy Tent will see performances by Adam Devine, Joyelle Nicole, Aparna Nancherla, Rachel Feinstein, Josh Adam Meyers, Sean Patton, Pete Davidson, Vannessa Bayer, Josh Rabinowitz + many more.
Kalliope
The electronic stage that likes to stay up until the sun rises. The Kalliope stage is known to throw massive parties with all kinds of music from different DJs including Jai Wolf, Odesza, Mija, and with special surprise sets in the past from artists such as Skrillex and Cherub. To give you an idea of how loud the stage is, Kalliope pumps out over 20,000 watts in just the subwoofer alone.
Spicy Pie
A staple at Bonnaroo is the delicious, mouthwatering Spicy Pie. What makes spicy pie so special? The jalapeño, pepperoni, and red pepper toppings match the Bonnaroo environment and mood, hitting all the right spots. This is one of those situations where you’ll have to experience it firsthand to understand what we’re talking about.
Shakedown Street

Shakedown Street is where local vendors go to distribute their art and handmade glass designs. It’s also a great place to get some fresh lemonade and $1 grilled cheese sandwiches while you’re browsing for your next glass piece.
SooperGroop Dance Party
Arriving on Wednesday? If so, then make sure you attend the SooperGroop Dance Party that was featured in Rolling Stone magazine as well as the deck of cards that Bonnaroo sent with wristbands this year. Soopergroop’s Why Stage will feature DJ performances and standup comedy throughout the weekend. There’s no better way to kick off the weekend than with Jean Sean, who will headline on Wednesday for the third consecutive year. This Bonnaroo tradition is held inside Groop Camping (refer to the map below). Look for the lit-up wooden SooperGroop arch, and you’ll know that you’ve arrived.
Write On The “Before I Die” Wall
As soon as you walk in through the arch and make a right, you will see the “Before I Die I Want To…” wall where hundreds of Bonnaroovians inscribe something that they want to do before they leave this earth. Chalk is provided, and everyone is encouraged to join the Bonnaroo tradition. By the end of the weekend, the wall is unreadable, but it won’t stop you from trying every time you pass it.
Get your taco on with Peace Love Tacos
The godlike tacos at Peace Love Tacos are a must. There are two locations — in Pod 3 and Pod 7 — to get your munch on after you’ve been in Centeroo all night. The menu will include Chicken, Pork Chorizo, Al Pastor, Chocopotle Beef, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, and the Kale Yeah! Taco. They’ve also added Basmati Rice and Party Beans to the menu. Our favorite is one of the eight super secret off-menu tacos called the “Summer Taco” which has chicken and sweet potato.
Music? By all means, but don’t forget to HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE, too!
