Established in 1962 by a group of parents who sought to provide a productive and safe place for adults with developmental disabilities.
adults-with-developmental-disabilities Loveland Center serves adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities.
From the outset, the vision was to provide more than just a traditional sheltered workshop. Instead, Loveland Center focuses on offering individualized services, which empower adults with developmental disabilities to make informed decisions about their work, lifestyle and citizenship so that they may become more self-sufficient and interconnected within the community.
Since its founding, Loveland has expanded to offer adult day training, supported employment and volunteering as well as supported living and group home services for adults with developmental disabilities.
The campus currently serves students from Sarasota and Charlotte Counties. Services are offered without regard to race, sex, creed or national origin. There are over 120 individuals enrolled in Loveland’s various programs.
All of Loveland’s dedicated team members believe that all people, regardless of disability, have inherent qualities that can benefit society. We believe our students will attain whatever goals they pursue when given the opportunities and support needed to succeed.
Community involvement is therefore strongly emphasized in our programs. We recognize students as adult citizens with the right to choose their own lifestyles, participate fully in the community, have friendships and relationships and work or volunteer in the community. Our services, programs and passionate staff members focus on providing opportunities and experiences that generate the skills needed to help students live their lives to the fullest.
