A Dozen Great Shows This Week from Dunedin to Orlando
We published an article last week about two excellent triple-bills in the Tampa Bay area this coming weekend. That barely described the tip of the iceberg, so let’s look at the calendar — strictly from my perspective — about all the shows my clone and I would like to hit. I have included bands, venues, and start times according to websites and Facecrack.

The “Cinco de” Displace and Fletcher’s Grove should be a blast. This show is an official Orange Blossom Jamboree Pre-party. Displace is just returning from their second week-long residency at the Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, and they are working on finishing a new album, due soon. And we welcome Fletcher’s Grove, bringing their brand of Appalachan jam rock from Morgantown, WV. (They also play Wednesday.)
The Backbooth show in Orlando is huge, with Ajeva, Come Back Alice and Ism throwing a second PBJ pre-party. Ajeva just released their first full-length album (Evolve) to great critical acclaim (including mine). Come Back Alice was just awarded the Music Video of the Year by the Los Angeles Guerrilla Film Festival for “Coraline” and was announced on the first wave of artists for this year’s Suwannee Hulaween. And Ism is a superb septet playing “jazzy funk & soul with Afro-Latin spice!”
Leisure Chief holds down Thursdays at Tanqueray’s, and Cinco de Mayo Thursday is no different. Check them out downstairs downtown with newest member Jordan Garno (also plays guitar with Serotonic!).
The Holey Miss Moley / Row Jomah / Future Vintage show at Skipper’s is also an OBJ pre-party! Saturday promises more excitement with the return of Beebs & Her Money Makers, along with Resinated and Milka Ramos.
Also Friday, brilliant “prog / ambient / electro rockers” Sumilan return for another show at Dunedin Brewery. Their Oktobeerfest performance melted everybody’s faces! They play Terra Fermata in Stuart for Cinco de Mayo. Saturday’s show at the brewery with Serotonic, Justino & the Difference, and Us Four will be killer. Sunday is Sunday, especially when you invite DJ 45Revolver to do exactly that. All he plays are classic funky 45s from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
St Yo is the wonderful acoustic collaboration of Dennis Stadelman, long the front man and guitar player for CopE and now his new band Grape Soda, and Troy Youngblood, founding member of Skull and Bone Band and leader of the superb Troy Youngblood and the Soulfish.
I will let Green Sunshine tell you about their show: “Come see Green Sunshine one last time before we take our hiatus. This special show will be a true tribute to the fans, as we play a setlist created by you, playing your favorite originals and covers that you’ve come to love over the years. This show is 100% free, and will promise to be a spectacular blowout!”
Better rest up at the beginning of the week. You’re going to need your strength by the weekend!
